Monday, May 27, 1588 Society board member Sobaz Benjamin sat down with Evelyn C. White, biographer to Alice Walker (author of the Color Purple) in the CKDU studio. This wide ranging interview touches the power of Black artists and writers, connections between Alice Walker’s life and the story of the Colour Purple and highlights beautiful and interesting moments in struggle.

1588 Society collaborated with Neptune on special fundraiser performance of The Color Purple: The Musical (May 30, 2019) with partial ticket proceeds going to The Turret Arts Space.
