Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Turret Arts Space the same as The Khyber?

Our projects are connected but distinct. The Turret Arts Space is the owner of the Khyber Building (1588 Barrington Street) which is the former home of The Khyber, the artist-run centre now located on 1880 Hollis Street. Once our renovation is complete, The Khyber will be an anchor tenant in our multipurpose and multi-organization arts facility.

Can I get a charitable receipt if I donate to the Turret Arts Space?

Yes! We are a registered charity (802265926RR0002). Any donations made after November 30, 2021 are tax-deductible.

Will the renovation make the space accessible?

Yes! A huge part of the plan and purpose of the renovation is to make a fully accessible arts space for everyone to enjoy!

What happens to community donations if your fundraising campaign is unsuccessful?

If the Turret Arts Space Society is unsuccessful at raising the capital to renovate the Khyber Building, and our society's aim can not be met, we would dissolve our organization and any remaining financial assets will be donated to another non-profit society in Nova Scotia, as per provincial society regulation. We would choose a society (or group of societies) which also aim to support emerging artists in Halifax and be open and transparent about the funds transferred to other nonprofits.
