Emily Davidson


President

Emily Davidson is a visual artist and graphic designer (NSCAD University, BFA 2009, MFA 2023). She is a founding member of the Turret Arts Space Society and has been involved with the Khyber Centre for the Arts as an exhibiting artist, patron of over fifteen years, and volunteer. Emily Davidson currently acts as research assistant for the Slavery North Initiative, UMass Amherst. She has previously worked in the not-for-profit sector as a communications manager and a graphic designer for the Dalhousie Student Union, and on served on the boards of Longhouse Housing Cooperative (Treasurer), Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project (Chair), and Inkstorm Screenprinting Collective.

Justin Reitzel


Treasurer

Justin is a Senior Financial Accountant at BF&M Canada in Halifax. He has 8 years of experience at a local chartered professional accounting firm and is a graduate of Dalhousie University. In his current role, he is responsible for financial reporting and analysis within the insurance industry. He also has a wide range of experience in providing assurance and tax services to different industries, including a number of not-for-profit organizations.

Kortney Dunsby
Secretary

Kortney Dunsby is an urban planner with a background in environmental sustainability (BA Trent University, MPLAN Dalhousie University). She lives and works in Halifax as the Sustainable Cities Coordinator at the Ecology Action Centre and wants to see how we can creatively imagine the future of our communities. Kortney believes the best cities have a flourishing arts and culture sector. While Kortney has been an appreciator of the arts her whole life, she dabbles in film photography, graphic design, and ceramics.

Sobaz Benjamin

Director

Sobaz Benjamin was born in London, England, and has also lived in Toronto, Ontario; Caribbean Island of Grenada; and currently lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He studied political science and mass communications (BA, honours 1997) and film and video production (BFA, 2001) at York University. He is an independent documentary film writer, director, producer, and picture editor, and Vice President of Sankofa Films. He is the founder, and Executive Director of an innovative arts-based youth engagement, empowerment, and reintegration program called In My Own Voice (iMOVe), Funded by the Federal Justice Department. For over eighteen years Sobaz has used video and audio production as tools of identity and community development in diverse educational and community settings.

Angela Henderson

Director

Angela Henderson is an artist and designer whose practice explores themes of mapping, place, ecology, and memory. She studied Industrial Design at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC (2010) and received her MFA from NSCAD (2016). She currently teaches at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Brielle LeBlanc

Director

Brielle LeBlanc is a filmmaker based in Mi’kma’ki: Nova Scotia. They majored in Cinema Media Studies and double-minored in Contemporary Studies and English at Dalhousie and the University of King’s College. Their debut short, “The Year Long Boulder” (2022) played Telefilm’s Not Short on Talent: Clermont-Ferrand, TIFF Next Wave, and won the NewFest + Vimeo Award for First-Time Filmmaker at NewFest: The New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival. In addition to filmmaking and working on the sets of other local film, television, and commercial productions, LeBlanc has worked with the Atlantic International Film Festival, WIFT-AT, St. Johns International Women’s Film Festival, and currently works with the Flaxmobile Project. In 2023, LeBlanc and their creative partner, Sean M. Galway founded their production company Enodia Films and co-launched the underground cinema, FLEAPIT.

Craig Leonard


Director

Craig Leonard is an artist and teacher living in Cape Breton, NS. He has been teaching at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design since 2006. His book "Uncommon Sense: Aesthetics After Marcuse" was published by MIT Press in 2022.
